some tweety bird called ms tan seow hon apparently wrote in to the newspaper to voice her opinions that the laws legalising abortion in singapore should be relooked. why I use such a cute name on her is cuz she's really a tweety bird. awww you're so cute and smart to know how to escape from sylvester. stupid dimwit..

I do not know exactly what she wrote but the replies to her in today's forum page in ST are a good wake up call for her.

If you are a catholic or christian or any religion that forbids abortion, go ahead and practise it. You do not need a law to force you to abide by your faith. You will do as per the strength of your faith. For the sake of your beliefs and you make some people bring kids into this world whom they are not able to raise properly and lead a less priveledged life than you. That's evil.

But of course this is just my assumption that she might belong to certain groups and be biased. From the replies, it is evident that one of her reasons for questioning the law is that singapore's birthrate is not growing. Well if that was the only reason for her argument, I must say she's twice a tweety bird. that's just so bimbotic. "oh my goodness~ we need to increase birthrates here~let's ban abortions~we want babies~ we want babies~ we want babies". hello paris hilton.. let's save the elephants..

On towards another topic, religions. Yes I'm a freethinker but I still believe in a God. I can't say who this God is. Whether he takes the form of a human or a booming voice or a shining light, I do not know yet. Why? Because to me God is a word to encompass something greater than us. Something we cannot understand. Something which is the reason why we are here. anyway, God is an english word, so don't come telling me I'm commiting a crime by misusing it. I just happen to speak english and I think it's appropriate to give it the greater than us entity. maybe somewhere else some other language person is saying you're committing a crime by not using his language term for God. so in other words, don't get pissed cuz technically, the God I'm referring to is not definitively placed onto any religion but a symbol of my own beliefs. As you can see, I am trying my best to phrase my words carefully to not infuriate anyone. Perhaps we can all do this so that we can live with each other more happily and actually spend happier times practising our religions.

BUT I MUST SAY ONE THING. I RESPECT ALL BELIEFS OF GOD. YOU COULD BE RIGHT. OR YOU COULD BE RIGHT. OR YOU THERE COULD BE RIGHT. I DON'T KNOW SO I DON'T CHOOSE A RELIGION YET. BUT FOR THE BENEFIT OF US ALL, WE SHOULD ALL ACCEPT ALL ARE RIGHT AND NOT FIND REASONS TO JUSTIFY ONE OVER THE OTHER. you know that by doing so you enrage the other believer, so why do it? self faith is sufficient to acknowledge, appreciate and practise.

I know for some pple, by saying I don't take sides means I'm am a non-believer. Well all I can say is, if you're unwilling to accept that my calling has not come yet, you're not a very good advocate for your religion. I acknowledge I am ignorant and awaiting a sign from God.

One thing I must say though. I really admire in envy how for example, Christians are able to worship their God with fellow believers in such a passionate and non-conditional way. The same goes for Muslims who unwaveringly pray dutifully no matter the time constraint and go to great lengths to try to go Mecca at least once in their lifetime(think about the the lower income people who might not be able to afford it). And so too for Buddhists who extend their warmness to everywhere and go vegetarian wholeheartedly. I mean it. Making the time to go down to the places of worship. studying the teachings. putting in the energy to contribute to the religious community. You guys have a healthy sense of kinship and spiritual togetherness. Whereas for free thinkers like myself, all we can do is just endless try to search for unanswerable answers and be cynical about many things. It's not that I understand my position and then I go on to embrace a religion to solve this problem. It doesn't work that way. Calling. That's the imperative. So don't take disappointment with my stubborness to follow your faith. I think right now, my calling from God is to be the way I am and try to do good as the current juncture empowers.

okay I'm kinda mentally shagged from the rather neatly written portayal of my thoughts. goodnight. I'm going to sleep now. I sure hope that I do make a difference in a constructive way to the different believers too. Together, we can not aim to live as one but rather as a non-judgemental family.
