The economy will pick up by end 2009

You know why I say that? Because it is inaccurate to compare our current doldrum-litic economic state with those of past recessions.

And the Number 1 Reason? wait for it...

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.
Sweet treats are still being consumed as often. Gym memberships are on the rise. The common reasons are "I'm retrenched, I'm stressed, I need these little joys to make myself happier."

YES! It's true! But you see, the reason why we know we can make ourselves happy with little joys is because - We know of such pleasures and are constantly reminded of them! How? Why, through the connectivity that consumerism confers onto us in the current era.

And ah, now comes the Capitalists. Good Ol' Capitalists. They are able to catch onto the growing consumption in niche markets and lo and behold, before long, one thing leads to another, consumption rises at a staggering rate. RECESSION GONE! CONGRATULATIONS.

My take is this. Information Technology affords us a new sharing of knowledge unseen before in previous times. It is unlike in the past where, probably, information asymmetry, held back the middleman between supply and demand. Nobody dared to throw their money on the table.

Now? HA! People are knocking on the tables with their forks and spoons demanding whatever fits within their leaner budget.
