Why do the people of New Orleans do not want to evacuate?
I'm sure they plan for future finances and buy insurance and investments and what not. But why are they not being rational in planning for the more tangible part of their lives, surviving the physical. Many pple really think they're invincible and in the face of danger, can jump like a monkey to safety on a coconut tree. Or maybe they think they can swim in the floods since they swim regularly. Little do they anticipate they might have to swim for a few hours or that debris in the water which CANNOT BE SEEN might hit their legs, injure them, or cause cramps. How long can you swim then?
I think everyone is guilty of this. Planning for all the societal possessions you want to have but not actually making the simple choices to ensure you stay safe. 1 very obvious examples is the way we eat. Especially old pple. Working all their lives to earn money but eating without a care in the world thinking that disease just won't happen to them. Or perhaps they just choose to live in ignorance and think "well, life is short, let me just be happy and eat what I like." I know how that feels. It's actually a sub consciousness of thinking "it wouldn't happen to me" too. It just presents itself to our irrational mind in a different non-chalent manner. Because for sure, when something bad really happens, the big regret felt will not explain for the non-chalency.
So please don't live fool hardily. It's true that the healthiest of us might get banged down by a car the next minute. But at least do your parents a favour and keep yourself safe. Unless you want their time and money spent raising you up all come to nought. And you old people out there. Don't think you're old and can do whatever you like. You have your parents too. And even if they're not around, that don't mean they didn't spend resources bringing you into this world. Don't just be responsible financially, be responsible by being there for your loved ones too. Stay healthy man..
